Chocolate Greek Yogurt Frosting

Our toddler daughter has a killer sweet tooth inherited from yours truly.  As with many parents, we try to limit our child’s sweets without taking away the enjoyment of the good things in life. The below recipe takes a little bit of the bad out of frosting by replacing the traditional butter ingredient with non-fat Greek yogurt. Our daughter still seems to love the taste despite the lack of butter. Hopefully you won’t feel so guilty serving seconds.

Chocolate Greek Yogurt Frosting
Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 12 cupcakes

Ingredients
  • ¾ cup cream cheese
  • ¾ cup non-fat Greek yogurt
  • ¾ chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup powered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Melt the chocolate chips on very low heat in a thick pan, microwave, or double boiler. Combine the remaining ingredients in a large bowl. Add the chocolate to the remaining ingredients and mix until smooth and thicker.
Notes
The frosting is best chilled to stiffen the texture.
